And The World Rejoiced

Approximately one and one half weeks ago we celebrated my dearest little sis's birthday in Disneyland. Unfortunately because we were in the happiest place on Earth, I didn't get a chance to post a little something about her. So I'm going to do it now.

Lauren is the bestest little sis. She does lots of stuff that makes her cool including but not limited to:

Baking awesome cakes
Making fun of my Ponies

Letting be my her things

Making me laugh

Loving everyone in the whole world

Taking lots of pictures of herself

Sitting in the rain at the cemetary. Oh what good times.

The Happiest Place On Earth!

The sisters, the mom and I just barely (like ten minutes ago) got back from the happiest place on Earth! I was a little skeptical that it would actually be that happy because people are generally happy when they have screaming kids and stand in long long lines. Luckily we were there for two very splendid days! The lines weren't too long, the cast members were all wicked friendly, and there weren't even too many small screaming children. It was a blast!


Tragically in Beaver, we had a little snag. The car broke. Litterally. Broke. We were all a little tragicized because it was supposed to be the happiest vacation on Earth! And you can't be happy when you are stuck in Beaver on a Sunday with a mechanic named Rick who is a Bishop so he is at church and not work. Tragic!

Luckily we were stuck at a truck stop with air conditioning and there IS such a thing as 24 hour towing in Beaver.

This loverly man told us that it was our water pump and gave us the phone number for the tow truck man.

Lauren got all excited when she realized that we were going to be towed to the gas station with the large chair in it. What a photo opp!

Now here is where the story gets really good. It is pretty lucky that I have the best dad in the whole wide world. Most people's dads would have said, "Well girls, I'll come pick you up from Beaver and you guys can go on your little trip another time." But no. Not my dad. Not the best dad in America and quite possibly the Universe. My dad said, "Well girls, let me see if I can find somebody to follow me down so I can bring you another car and you can continue on your merry way to California." HE DID IT! No joke. He is probably the woot-awesomest person in all the world! Would your daddy do that? I think probably not. Thanks Poppy!This is the Uncle Perry. He followed my dad down to bring us a new car. He is also quite super!We were then on our merry way. We didn't get to California until almost midnight because we had some unfortunate potty breaks to make in Nevada. :) It was a good drive but we were very glad to get to California where we could smell the ocean. We were so tired that we just dropped into bed dreaming of the fun we were going to have the next day. :)

We stood in line in front of this little boy who had come to Disneyland just with his dad to celebrate his birthday. They had been there all weekend, and he was more than helpful in telling us just what rides we should be riding. We even got out the map, so he could show us where everything was. He was a right awesome little tour guide for us first timer peeps.

I LURVED the Rolling Thunder Mountain roller coaster thingy. We road it four times. Three right in a row! I loved to scream out over the side at all the tourists. It was basically the best time EVER!

TEACUPS!

We saw far more characters than I thought we would. I may or may not have sort of freaked out when we came off Splash Mountain and there was Tigger. I may or may not have screamed. A lot. Really loudly.

We rode Space Mountain THREE TIMES! We are awesome. Here we are havin the time of our life on our last ride.

Lauren was a really great sport and celebrated her 21st day 'o' birth while we were in the park. We were lame and didn't even get her a cake, but we did buy her a really awesome red velvet cupcake with Mickey on top. It got a little squished but it was still yummylicious. She was nice enough to be a sharer. :) She's super like that.

Aren't we all glad that we are good kids?

We finally figured out the the train is the only way to get around the park. You get to see lots of stuff AND you get to rest your feetsies. What a win win!

We didn't even think of taking apicture of all four of us by the Mickey until the very end of the second day. Note: If you go to Disneyland, you should probably take this picture WAY before you have spent 12 hours in the park. You might look a little prettier than we did.

I waved goodbye. I cried. It was quite sad because we had quite a good time!

We Raced For The Cure!

A couple of Saturdays ago the sisters and the mom and I joined like a million and one other people and raced for the cure. My mar is a 14 year survivor and a hot one to boot! Here are some highlights from the day. :)

She is a great paper writer.
She helps me write my papers with her great paper writing skills.
She helps me pass my classes.
I wouldn't be an interpreter without her.
She likes to take pictures.
She LOVES to go to lunch. :)
She is always up for some ice cream.
Ditto for Irish dancing. (Even on street corners in Chicago.)
She is a sweet-A Irish dancer!
She loves her puppy Indy.
She talks to Indy like he's a kid.

She does crazed things with me like fly to Chicago to see Wicked, drive to Ohio to go to Cedar Point, and stand in line for 8 hours to get Wicked tickets here.
She is going to New York with me.
She loves to travel.
She loves to talk about work.

Wicked, Half Dressed, Census Lady

Yesterday, before I had completely gotten ready for the day, (I was therefore not exactly all the way dressed) I decided that

extravaganza in our basement. Putting on variety shows for the roommates is a regular occurrence at our household, and I am positive that they love love love it! I know you would too! (If you ever want one, you just let me know!) During the show, someone knocked on the door and because Crystal had a toothbrush in her mouth, and because I saw a lot of hair so I knew it was a lady, I decided answering the door was up to me and it was sort of okay that I wasn't all the way dressed. I opened it, and who should be standing there but the

lady. I graciously took her piece of paper, and went to close the door when she said, "You have a lovely voice. I heard it THROUGH THE DOOR! (my exclamation, not hers) and I know it couldn't have been her (pointing to Crystal) because she has a toothbrush in her mouth." How embarrassing! I knew that I was singing quite loudly because it wouldn't have been a very good show if I hadn't have been, but I didn't realize that you could hear me through walls and doors. I am going to have to sing a little more quietly from now on during my shows. Too darn bad for the Census guy who is gonig to come next, I know!
