Hello, My Friends, Hello!

Quite a lot has been happening in my life over the last few months. I'm sorry dear blogging world, that I have neglected you during this busy time. I hope to never do it again. (Though I am quite sure that it will happen. :))

I worked this summer mostly at, picking up hours here and there at the U and SLCC. At the very end of July Em and I set off on our adventure for this year. We decided we need a HUGE adventure so we picked NYC! We took the red-eye in and I couldn't sleep because I kept singing, "NYC! Just got here this morning! Three bucks! Two bags! One me!" It's a song from Annie, but I couldn't remember any more of the lyrics than that, so I kept singing those ones over and over again. I'm sure everyone on the flight, especially Emily who was sitting next to me, thoroughly enjoyed my vocal talents. :)

We got in about 5:30 a.m. but had arranged to check in early at the place we were staying. We got this sweet deal on a vacay rental in Harlem. Say what?! HARLEM! It was wickedly freaking awesome! We had a little nap, and took some refreshing showers and then we were off! First place of the day was the Metropolitan Museum of Art. What history! We had a great time. :) Seeing all that old stuff was pretty wickedly awesome! Van Goh, Monet, Michealangelo. It really makes a girl feel insignificant. :)The security guy told me to get away from the painting. I was apparently standing too close, and the germs from my arm were going to jump from my arm to the painting. Whatev. I guess it's just too presh to chance it.

We also had a grand old time pretending like we were the stuff in the museum. Classic. And lame. :)Once we had had our fill of old stuff, it was off to Central Park. The museum happens to be located in the park so luckily it wasn't that far of a walk. :) We saw some pretty cool stuff like the Friend's fountain, the Alice statue, the boathouse, and Strawberry Fields. I was mostly interested in the stuff I've seen in movies. :) Now I know exactly where all that stuff is! WOOT!

Our new friend Oscar from Turkey talked us in to taking a little Rickshaw ride around the park. We were his very first customers on his very second day working. When I asked him how many customers he had had the day before he replied simply with, "one". It was pretty awesome. Poor little guy. We gave him two bottles of water and a big tip. He did a great job.
Once we were done in Central Park, it was off to Fifth Ave for a little bit of shopping. (Like we could afford anything on Fifth Avenue. Lol.) We hit all the major stores. Saks, Tiffany's, FAO Schwartz (we didn't get to go into this one, but we did go there.). It was a pretty freaking good time. In Saks we found this little counter tucked away in the back that was called the Chocolate Cafe. It drew me right in. We got a couple of chocolate carmels and some iced hot chocolate. It was delicious. Thus began our trip of searching for sweets. The chocolate cafe was a great way to kick it off!

While we were there, Em and I became expert metro travelers. We are awesome.

We decided we would round out our day with a trip to the Empire State Building. We found dinner at a little pizza place called, what else, Empire Pizza. New York pizza is definitely tasty. :)

The Empire State building at night is wicked! You can see the whole city just layed out before you. It was way dark at the top with only one light on each corner. Everyone was talking quietly and it had an almost reverent feeling. It was quite a contrast to what we got on the street. :)

After stopping to get some milk and cereal for breakfast the next morning, we hurred back to the sleeping place to meet Jill and Melissa and get ready for our next day of fun!

The next day we got up and headed over (of course on the subway) to Batery Park to go on our tour of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. It was... you guessed it, AWESOME!

We even saw a Pirate ship!

We walked down Broadway and saw a whole bunch of ever-so-famous streets on our way to the World Trade Center site and museum. This was probably one of my very favorite parts of the whole trip. The museum is very small but very powerful. It was great to see how much has and hasn't happened with the site in the last eight years.

Melissa had heard of this way tasty cupcake place called Magnolia's so we decided that on our search for Sweets that was the place we needed to stop next. :) They were indeed ever so tasty. It was worth the walk and the slight meltdown I had on the way there.

After Magnolia's we caught a cab back to the apartment to get ready for our show. We got to seeand thanks to Jill's awesome ticket buying skills, we got to sit second row right smack dab in the middle. It was AWESOME! There are not even words to describe how awesome Broadway is. It was amazing, chilling, mind-shattering and heart-attack inducing. :) I shouldn't have shaved my legs becasue I had like an inch of leg hair when we left because of all the chills I got. Awesome. We also got to experience Times Square at night. I will definitely go there for New Years sometime. I cannot even imagine how wicked that is going to be. :)

We then continued on our search for Sweets with a stop at Serendipity 3 the restaurant famous for frozen hot chocolate. It was definitely worth the 30 minute wait we had. Very very tastylicious.

We fell into bed that night thoroughly exhausted but full of totally sweet yummy treats and happier than we had ever been before. We had to get rested up for the next day. We were going to buy illegal goods. We definitely needed our strength for that.

We started out the day with a trip the the Here are the highlights:

After our time in the museum, we headed to the infamous Canal street to buy ourselves some bags. Because of the focus on shopping, not picture taking there were very limited pictures to choose from, and all of them were taken in illegal basement hallways. To protect the awesome peeps we bought our purses from, I will refrain from posting these. :) It was just awesome.

Em and I departed from Jill and Melissa at this point to run back to the apartment to get our bags and head to the bus station to catch the bus to Philadelphia. We missed our connection on the subway and ended up deep in the heart of Harlem. We were the only two white peeps on the street carrying a very large camera. We were basically screaming WE'RE TOURISTS! It was awesome. We finally got a cab to take us back to the apartment and then to the bus station just in time to miss our bus. We ended up getting on the next one and only getting to Philadelphia just a little bit later than we had planned.

Philadelphia was a blast. Of course the conference was a good time but I had way more fun playing with all the Utah peeps. We had so much fun.
Here are the highlights:
  • We found out that Philly cheesesteaks are just called "cheesesteaks". If you add Philly onto the front, they know you are from out of town
  • We ate some pretty tasty cheesesteaks
  • We saw the Liberty Bell
  • We saw Independence Hall
  • We went to Betsy Ross's house and learned how to make perfectly symetrical stars from Betsy herself
  • We had Swedish Fish flavored gelato
  • We karaoked
  • We danced
  • We karaoked some more
  • And some more
  • And some more
  • And danced some more
  • Then more karaoke-ing
  • We did all that in the oldest bar in Philadelphia
  • We continued our search for Sweets at a place called the Naked Chocolate Cafe with sipping chocolate which is just chocolate they melt and put in a teacup
  • We saw the LOVE statue
  • I serenaded some policeman in the city of love with a song about love
  • We saw city hall
  • We saw a chair that George Washington's butt actually sat in
  • We took the subway
  • We found some cute jewelry
  • We went to Hard Rock
  • We saw lots of old stuff and statues
  • I danced with an old guy I didn't know
  • We jumped off giant game pieces
  • We had FUN!

It was so great! I am totes looking forward to Atlanta in 2011!

Here are the highlights in pictures:

The second I got back from Philadelphia, I was wisked away to the P-town to play with the babe. Nate and Katie and Josie flew in the same day and time that I did, so I was lucky and got to drive home with them.We did lots of great stuff including going to the fair and playing outside in the water. She is so dang cute and it was so great to be able to spend some time with Nate and Katie.
My twin flame baby sis Lauren went and became a Sister in the gospel and got a new twin flame from California. She is in Florida now spreading the gospel and teaching like crazy! I'm so proud of her. :)

I got home from P-town and this guy(this is not the actual guy, just a depiction done by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office of a bad guy)

kicked in a window at my house and stole my beloved

It was pretty gosh dang tragic, and the reason I haven't blogged for one point seven million years.

I also moved in with one of my besties, Kari and starte school at

It has been a busy summer, but a great one! I can't wait to see what my 26th year of life will hold.

And The World Rejoiced

Approximately one and one half weeks ago we celebrated my dearest little sis's birthday in Disneyland. Unfortunately because we were in the happiest place on Earth, I didn't get a chance to post a little something about her. So I'm going to do it now.

Lauren is the bestest little sis. She does lots of stuff that makes her cool including but not limited to:
Baking awesome cakes
Making fun of my Ponies

Making me laugh
Loving everyone in the whole world
Taking lots of pictures of herself

Sitting in the rain at the cemetary. Oh what good times.

The Happiest Place On Earth!

The sisters, the mom and I just barely (like ten minutes ago) got back from the happiest place on Earth! I was a little skeptical that it would actually be that happy because people are generally happy when they have screaming kids and stand in long long lines. Luckily we were there for two very splendid days! The lines weren't too long, the cast members were all wicked friendly, and there weren't even too many small screaming children. It was a blast!

Tragically in Beaver, we had a little snag. The car broke. Litterally. Broke. We were all a little tragicized because it was supposed to be the happiest vacation on Earth! And you can't be happy when you are stuck in Beaver on a Sunday with a mechanic named Rick who is a Bishop so he is at church and not work. Tragic!
Luckily we were stuck at a truck stop with air conditioning and there IS such a thing as 24 hour towing in Beaver.
This loverly man told us that it was our water pump and gave us the phone number for the tow truck man.

Us in the tow truck.

Lauren got all excited when she realized that we were going to be towed to the gas station with the large chair in it. What a photo opp!

Now here is where the story gets really good. It is pretty lucky that I have the best dad in the whole wide world. Most people's dads would have said, "Well girls, I'll come pick you up from Beaver and you guys can go on your little trip another time." But no. Not my dad. Not the best dad in America and quite possibly the Universe. My dad said, "Well girls, let me see if I can find somebody to follow me down so I can bring you another car and you can continue on your merry way to California." HE DID IT! No joke. He is probably the woot-awesomest person in all the world! Would your daddy do that? I think probably not. Thanks Poppy! This is the Uncle Perry. He followed my dad down to bring us a new car. He is also quite super! We were then on our merry way. We didn't get to California until almost midnight because we had some unfortunate potty breaks to make in Nevada. :) It was a good drive but we were very glad to get to California where we could smell the ocean. We were so tired that we just dropped into bed dreaming of the fun we were going to have the next day. :)

We stood in line in front of this little boy who had come to Disneyland just with his dad to celebrate his birthday. They had been there all weekend, and he was more than helpful in telling us just what rides we should be riding. We even got out the map, so he could show us where everything was. He was a right awesome little tour guide for us first timer peeps.

I LURVED the Rolling Thunder Mountain roller coaster thingy. We road it four times. Three right in a row! I loved to scream out over the side at all the tourists. It was basically the best time EVER!

TEACUPS!

We saw far more characters than I thought we would. I may or may not have sort of freaked out when we came off Splash Mountain and there was Tigger. I may or may not have screamed. A lot. Really loudly.

We rode Space Mountain THREE TIMES! We are awesome. Here we are havin the time of our life on our last ride.

Lauren was a really great sport and celebrated her 21st day 'o' birth while we were in the park. We were lame and didn't even get her a cake, but we did buy her a really awesome red velvet cupcake with Mickey on top. It got a little squished but it was still yummylicious. She was nice enough to be a sharer. :) She's super like that.

Aren't we all glad that we are good kids?

We finally figured out the the train is the only way to get around the park. You get to see lots of stuff AND you get to rest your feetsies. What a win win!

We didn't even think of taking apicture of all four of us by the Mickey until the very end of the second day. Note: If you go to Disneyland, you should probably take this picture WAY before you have spent 12 hours in the park. You might look a little prettier than we did.

I waved goodbye. I cried. It was quite sad because we had quite a good time!

We Raced For The Cure!

A couple of Saturdays ago the sisters and the mom and I joined like a million and one other people and raced for the cure. My mar is a 14 year survivor and a hot one to boot! Here are some highlights from the day. :)
